Sometimes It Does Not Pay To Be a Good Samaritan

Posted by tunabdulrazak on 31/01/2009

It was around 7.30 pm when Imas called.

I straight away drove to his rented room. I saw three small children in a small dark room. The sicky youngest daughter  was crying. His sad looking wife looked at me, tried in vain, a smile.

He was to be evicted by his Chinese landlord, as Imas did not pay the rent. He had no where else to go. It was then landas season, so he managed to work for less than two week as a construction worker. He was damned broke with three hungry children and no roof.

I told him I could only offer a house but without water and electricity. He gladly accepted my humble offer. The following day I sent his sick daughter to a private clinic.

A month later, he told me that his wife and the kids would be better off in his Dusun with his in-laws. He needed to borrow my new Honda bike to allow him to send his family to the Dusun as he had very little money. The faces of his pitiful children and wife compelled me to agree, eventhough I had a reservation that he might not return my bike.

“Perhaps God ask me to assist,” I encouraged myself.

He returned two weeks later, without the bike but with reasonable excuses which I accepted. He later began to avoid me. Finally I learnt from his friends that he had sold the bike.

It is over two years now and Imas of Dusun Songga, Darit, Landak, Kalimantan Barat was no where to be seen. Every month I have to pay RM300 for the bike.

Being a Dayak, I always try to defend our poor Indonesian Dayak labourers for being petty thieves, untrustworthy, unaccountable and without principle. I will continue to help those Indonesian Dayaks in need.

I also realise that you cannot depend sorely on God to help you, even when you are helping His creations-in-need. He has given you life, brain and conscience. Utilise these gifts.

Dead men walking in the streets

Posted by tunabdulrazak on 28/01/2009

Is Tun Mustapha still alive?

It was during his reign as Sabah Chief Minister by telephone from Australia, via a rich office boy, Syed Kechik, that thousands of Malaysian identity cards were issued to Philipino and Indonesian Muslims, to increase the Muslim population in Sabah, just to beat Dayak Kadazans ( Fuad Stephens and Pairin).

Since the issuance of mykads to Indonesians is still going on, could Tun Mustpha be still alive?

Rahman Yakub committed the same sins in Sarawak. Just visit oil palm plantations in Miri and Bintulu and you will meet lots of Muslim Indonesians with genuine mykads. Taib  seems to be going to repeat that cycle again via recruitment of foreign workers for SCORE.

You get that Dayaks? What shall we do? Get permission from our wives to marry another three wives? Have 12 children? Or vote out Barisan Nasional.?

A friend in need is a friend indeed

Posted by tunabdulrazak on 28/01/2009

So the saying goes.

Some call him “Jack The Snake”. Con man, tukang loyar, loyar buruk, penipu and sobak. Being neutral, easy going, not busy body and quite social, I have friends who are crooks, prostitutes, smugglers, holy man, ministers, governors, businessmen, activists, Muslims fanatics and lately even a Palestinian ambassador. Even then more people seem to know him than myself.

When asked why he calls him as such, normally the character assassin would simply replay how other character assassins portray him. “It’s not personal”, he would add.

When pressed to name the victims, no names came out. When asked whether there is any court cases against him: negative answer. There is not even a nod if enquired whether Jack owes him some money.

He is Jack Of Jalan Stephen Yong. Like any Bidayuh lad from a village, he started from zero. He underwent many jobs. He tried many enterprises.  He worked with many partners. He never took off.

I can vividly recall how he borrowed his wife’s relative’s old Honda cub to move around about 13 years ago.

Finally I observed that he return to basic as what the Bible teaches: he worked alongside his beloved wife. While he moved around doing what he knows best, that is prospecting and socialising, his wife would head a team of workers to execute the small contract job that he started.

Soon his connections led him into land brokerage. He is now a full time land broker. The rest is history.

My conclusion is that Jack is clean. It is just unfortunate that success create envies and more business competitors.

Last gawai, I was very happy for him, to see his new big fuly furnished self engineered, fully paid residence. Last Christmas I saw two additions to his vehicle collection, which include a Toyota SUV, making a sum of four.

My car was darned in the workshop for two weeks. My loan was not released yet, neither was my deal. I needed it before the Chinese New Year. It was inconvenient to share my wife’s car. I sms Jack in the morning. In the evening he passed me RM2000, without any question asked. I was not the first, and I believe that neither will I be the last friend in need, whom he will assist.

Leave your message at Allahway if you want to buy or sell land. Deal with a proven Dayak Bidayuh.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad dijatuhi Hukum Hudud

Posted by tunabdulrazak on 27/01/2009

He promotes boycoting American products and services, such as Kentucky Fried Chicken.

When the American economy weakens, so is the American purchasing power. Being huge and the number one world economy, weak American economy means less demands and therefore could possibly cripple world economy. USA is actually Malaysia’s major trading partner.

Price of fuel is reduced and may result in less Arabs travelling toMalaysia and their demands of Malaysian goods. Many Malaysian halal manufacturers will lose out.

Soya beans producing communities will hit hard campaigning against oil palm, which could retard demand for palm oil and therefore reduce price of palm oil. Malaysian farmers, fertilizers manufacturers, mills operators and thousand of workers will loose out.

Most francisees  of Kentucky Fried Chicken are Malays. Many Malays may loose out to Sugar Bun.

Mahathir seems to be even more irresponsible when he is encouraging unemployment by provoking Malaysians to quite working in American cmpanies.

Mahathir’s vision is short sighted. He is irresponsible. More Malaysians will suffer from his foolish campaign.

I therefore, hereby declare that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad be fined under Hukum Hudud.

Kamu bukan lagi anak aku.

Posted by tunabdulrazak on 26/01/2009

“Awakmu saiki dudu anak ku”, jawab bapanya. (Kamu bukan lagi anak aku; you are no longer my son)

Kong Hee Fat Choi

Posted by tunabdulrazak on 25/01/2009

Gong Xi Fa Chai, Happy Chinese New Year, Happy New Year. Selamat Hari Raya Imlek.

Kong Hee Fatt Choy, or whatever other equivalents in other dialects, simple means “Wish You Good Fortune”. It is the Spring Festival, during which most Chinese would cerebrate reunion dinners amongst family members, especially parents. They would also try their best to participate in other family activities.

Many modern Chinese however, opt for having holiday overseas, taking advantage of the long break trying to make up for the lost times, with their spouses and children.

It is the year of an Ox. President Obama was born in the year of an Ox. And he was sworn in as the 44th USA president in the year of an ox as well.

Chinese New Year cerebration is famous for extravagant spendings on fire crackers, fireworks, expensive dinners, fat ang pows, gamblings amongst the sibblings and  expensive gifts.

How I wished the cerebration falls during the month of lent, to allow bigger percentage for the poor and needy.

Unlike last year, now that we have a new mayor, I hope that lion dance procession is allowed in Kota Pontianak.

I am wondering whether there is a SUPP open house in Bengoh and Opar, to say farewel to the voters.

A man’s dear friend: Ox http://sarawakiana.blogspot.com/2009/01/ox-year-thoughts-love-and-labour-of-ox.html

Multifaith Dayak Bidayuh Family – a response

Posted by tunabdulrazak on 23/01/2009

Dayak Kenyah, Kelabit, Kayan, and Iban ladies prefer Dayak Bidayuh husbands because they are considered mild, sober, responsible and  upholding ‘One-Woman-Man’  principle.

Dayak Kenyah, Kelabit, Kayan and Iban men prefer Dayak Bidayuh wives mainly because basically they have clean ‘history’. They easily can prove that the western’s notion of, ” to look for a virgin is as difficult as looking for a needle in a haystack” is false. They are generally not promiscous and are practicing Christians. Husbands who travel a lot feel at ease.

Statistics show that more Dayak Bidayuhs married outside the ethnic, partly due to their exposure to non-Bidayuhs, as their initial employment environment, after graduation or leaving school, are normally outside Bidayuh majority areas. Bidayuhs are generally concentrated in Kuching division of Sarawak, Borneo.

Therefore Dayak Bidayuh will soon be extinct.

A professional Dayak Bidayuh lady who hails from Kupuo Atas, Singgai, has this to say:

http://86generation.blogspot.com/2009/01/kenapa-banyak-intelektual-wanita.html .

Are the Dayak Bidayuhs destined for extinction?

Tips from Malaya

Posted by tunabdulrazak on 16/01/2009

Comment from TBS Bidayuh : http://tbsbidayuh.blogspot.com/2009/01/non-registered-voter.html

You yourself must do something. If you blame your people and don’t act, then you are worse than the ones you are blaming. You have internet, can read, write and you are young full of energy. I’m from Malaya and I supported the opposition by making my friends register as voters, dragging them to the polling stations, making our parents ditch Umno for the opposition, spreading the PR ideas and defending them and convincing the old folk and you can see the result for yourself. At the moment I’m in Kuala Terengganu doing my part and no body pays me. I have to act and not wait for miracles and ten days from now, you will see Umno losing another seat in Malay heartland. If the Malay people can reject Umno, why should you stick with BN and Taib? We can’t allow Taib in Malaya. We will reject him. We will take his money, and the vote against him. We do that in Malaya. Umno gives us including today in Kuala Terengganu a lot of money, we take the money but we vote against the party. The money is our taxes and we receive it but we deny them our votes. Can’t you do the same? If you don’t help the Bidayuh, then who will help? Malayans can’t come to Sarawak for many reasons. It is you who should act now. Do the following:

1. Register as a voter now.
2. make sure all your family members, old and young (eligible) are registered as well.
3. Show them the differences in policies between BN and PR
4. Show the evil nature of Taib and his ‘divide and rule’ politics.
5. teach them their rights so that they aren’t taught to thank BN but BN should thank them instead.
6. Organise weekly meetings with learned friends and discuss issues and spread the opposition platform.
7. Write on issues of Sarawak regularly and use photos etc to make an impact.
8. have an alliance with fellow Sarawak bloggers and make sure you make Taib and his gang feel your heat like the way we make Malaya politicians feel the heat of Malaya bloggers.
9. Seek help from Malaya friends. Taib is very powerful and you can’t dislodge him easily. You need help.
10. Convince your people on why they should reject race based parties and start moving ahead. Taib is dividing Dayaks into hundred parties bcoz of race-based parties. If you unite as Sarawakians and Dayak, he will lose. Furthermore, highlight always the betrayals of Dayak-Bidayuh politicians and make them hated by the people.

Wish you success

Abdullah of Selangor

Help Is On Its Way, Dayak Ladies-2

Posted by tunabdulrazak on 15/01/2009
